Somerville Data Center

Nilsson + Associates Architects helped Cogent Communications to breath new life into their Somerville data center.  N+A Architects helped Cogent to evaluate the existing building and switch room. We designed the new rack lay-outs to increase the data center capacity from the existing 52 racks and 208KW to 110 racks and 440KW.  The new racks lay-outs create hot and cold aisles to permit hot-air containment as a future cooling option. The project scope of work included structural improvements, mechanical and electrical upgrades and new roof works.  N+A Architects performed the existing conditions survey, created and coordinated the architectural construction documents as well as the oversight services of permitting and controlled construction observation.
